Group Collaboration

Road Trip Nation is not the only group activity we have done in class but it is the biggest. We also did the wellness lesson that me and Astara did together, quite fantastically I might add. In the lesson me and Tara put what we both knew together, her being a theatr major she is really good at acting and knew how to work the computer to put the video together, go her! So me and her worked pretty well as a group and had no issues together. The RTN hasbeen a little bit more difficult to work in a group however. Most of the project requires doing work yourself and kinda just trying to fit the three together. Also to schedual the interviews you had to do what works for you and hope it works for everyone else. We tried to say when would work for all of us but there is always so many uncontrolable things that made it kinda difficult to find a good time for everyone. But now that we have gotton that out of the way it has been time to work on the presentation. How we did that was to do our interview presentation seperately and put them al together in a Power Point. So far that is working pretty well, we are fixing to try to intergrate them together. So we shall see how the end of this goes and I really hope our project turns out amazing and I have no doubt that it will.

Did you know?

After watching the Did You Know video I felt a little overwhelmed. There were so many facts in there that I had no idea about and never thought of, now I had to sort it all out and figure out what it means to me.  One of the very first facts the video showed was that China will soon become the number one English speaking country, I thought that was extremly interesting and weird. China has it’s own language but English is such a highly valued language that everyone uses to communicate. I thought it was really interesting that the job I will have in the future isnt even created yet, they are preparing me or a job that doesnt exist! Knowing this fact has helped to calm down a little and not stress so much about what career I’m going to have, it might not exist yet so why worry? It will all work itself out in the end. Also the U.S. Department of Labor estimates that today’s learners will have 10-14 jobs by the age of 38. So I now know that I will swtich around jobs alot and thats ok. Its ok for me to figure out what I want to do and experiment with it instead of being stuck with one job forever that I might hate with a passion. So all in all everything in the video was very interesting to me, especially about all the internet facts like facebook, twitter, how many people use it now campared to years ago, and so many other facts, but it has also helped me to just relax and take one day at a time.

Response to Isabel’s lesson

I agree that is extremely important especially in college. My sleep schedule isn’t very different than it was in high school. I still get like at least ten hours of sleep! Every night I try to go to sleep as soon as possible and wake up as late as possible. And I also take a lot of naps! I believe that sleep deprivation is a very serious matter in our day to day life’s. sleep is very important to me and I make a point to get as much sleep as possible every day. The prezi show was very interesting and very well done, good job. I thought it was very interesting and kept my attention very well.

Lesson for the class

Me and Astara did our lesson about the importance of nutrition. We learned that most college students don’t have time to think about what and when to eat or any other nutrition facts. After interviewing some fellow freshman about what they know we presented them with the actual answers and saw how shocked they were. So watch our video and let me know what you learn! 🙂

Money Management

The activity we did in class was fun and was also a really good way to point out that most of us in there didn’t really know how to manage our money or the value of things. I learned that some students are able to pay for an apartment and necessities in life with just a part time job. While some students are having trouble just paying for the necessities because of frivolous spending, I would fall into this catagory. If you just cut back on the amount you spend on fun activities you can have more than enough for what you need and that’s what I need to start doing. I would like to take the Deals for Steals workshop where they show you free events around campus and good deals so you can start saving money some. If I start eating at the dinning halls more often I could save a lot of money, I have a meal plan so I shouldn’t be wasting my money on whataburger or other places.

Elevator pitch

Here are my two elevator pitches. The first one is me presently and the second one is where I hope to be in the future, just without details.

STRONG results

My Strong results show that I am an IR, which is what I guessed in class. I guess I’m getting good at reading myslef. But even though it showed I was IR it was only moderately, I didn’t strongly match anything. I agree with the descriptions it gave me however, like I prefer working alone and strongly dislike group projects, I prefer to learn though books, and don’t like taking risks. I thought it was really interesting that the first occupation match it gave me was Librarian. I love reading and I love to organize things, just not my room or purse. One thing I have been really interested in was owning my own bookstore and even though Entrepreneurship wasn’t rated really highly for me at all it still doesn’t mean that I can’t or shouldn’t. The results also showed that I like to learn just for the sake of learning and I completely agree with that, and also that I like to work with my hands. Alot of the people who have the same results as me are librarians and really enjoy their jobs. Ultametly this test results made me realize that owning my own bookstore coffee shop is something that I really want to do, now I start finding out what I need to do to achieve that.

Myers-Briggs results

After seeing how in class I guessed the letters exactly right I was really excited to read the descrpitions. The preferred work enviroments were private tima and space, meaningful work, cooperation and helping, and trusting people to work autonomously without cloes supervision. All of those I agree with, I like to work by myself and I firmly believe in doing work that has meaning. The challanges I face also fit me perfectly. Such as: I am reluctant to do necessary networking, I overwhelm myself with possibilities, and I put off making a decision by always waiting for a better opportunity. And the second set of challenges suit me perfectly as wel, I have dificulty speaking up in meetings, and I may fail to convince others of the merit of my ides. If I follow the suggested strategies given I believe that I could over come some of my challenges very easily. The one thing I really don’t agree too much with is the most popular jobs for INFP’s like me. The job that got a score of 100 for me was arts, design, entertainment, sports, and media. None of which are anything I’m interested in, or am good at. I believe it’s hard to get a perfect reading on my personality, I am constantly changing depending on my mood. However, the test did a really good job of getting close.

Intellegince Test

Well I’m not sure how to copy it over here and post it but here is what it said:

Linguistic: 35%

Logical- Mathematical: 22%

Musical: 25%

Bodily-Kinesthetic: 28%

Spatial- Visual: 32%

Interpersonal: 30%

Intrapersonal: 30%

So according to this I should be a writer or lawyer or something similar. I don’t really believe that this was a complete fair assessment because for the logical- mathematical part it just asked if I liked it not if i was any good. Just because I hate math doesn’t mean that I didn’t understand it and always do good in class. And i like listening to music but trust me, I sound like a dying cow when I sing, I don’t think being a singer is for me. However, with the linguistics part I do agree that I am good with words and as it asked can be a very good liar and manipulator, just mostly to my parents in dire times.
